While a night out with your mates can often cure even the worst of moods, sometimes there is nothing better than sitting in, watching a film and indulging in some comfort food when you’re feeling down.
From rom-coms to cheesy musicals, to heart-warming documentaries, we’ve got a list of 13 of the best feel-good films on Netflix so you’re not stuck for something to watch when you’re feeling low.
1. Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging
Transport yourself back to your cringey teenage years with this coming-of-age film. You’ll suffer some serious second-hand embarrassment but Georgia is sure to make you laugh and the 15-year-old in you will probably still be a little heart-eyed everytime Robbie comes on the screen.
2. Grown Ups
Starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade and Rob Schneider this comedy follows the story of 5 high school friends who reunite three decades later. With wives, kids, some very inappropriate behaviour at a funeral and a weekend sharing a cabin thrown into the mix, this film will have you laughing until you're feeling better.
3. Legally Blonde (1 & 2)
If Harvard Law student Elle Woods and her quirky ways can't make you smile I don't know what will...
4. Ferris Bueller's Day Off
There is no way you can still be feeling down after watching this hilarious 80's flick. Ferris Bueller convinces everyone he's ill and has a day off full of adventures that make us wish we hadn't laid on the sofa and watched crappy day-time telly when we pulled a sickie during secondary school...
5. What Happens in Vegas
A laugh out loud rom-com starring Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher. Spoiler: What happens in Vegas never stays in Vegas.
6. Just Go With It
A rom-com with a star-studded cast including Jennifer Aniston, Adam Sandler and Nicole Kidman. Sandler gets himself into a bit of a sticky situation and Aniston swoops in and attempts to save the day by pretending to be his ex-wife (and we all know how that is going to end...). A cliche plot but a funny one nonetheless.
7. White Chicks
A classic feel-good 00s flick starring brothers Marlon and Shawn Wayans. There's no way you can still feel down after watching the undercover FBI agents transform into the Wilson sisters.
8. Step Brothers
If the famous car sing-along doesn't have you crying with laughter there's no hope for you...
9. Clueless
As if you could still feel down after watching Cher cruise around in her white Jeep, play cupid with her teachers and look for love in all the wrong places in this 90s film.
10. Bride Wars
Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway star in this rom-com where nothing goes right but of course, everything works out in the end. Prepare for Bridezillas, lots of white dresses, a fake tan disaster (that might hit a little too close to home) and some home truths.
11. Dream Girls
Singing your heart out along with Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson and Anika Noni Rose in this musical set in the 1960s is a sure way to make you feel better.
12. Madagascar
If you didn't know already Madagascar tells the story of 4 animals who escape from Central Park Zoo and find themselves on the island of Madagascar. A funny, easy watch with a stellar cast including Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer and Jada Pinkett Smith.
13. Twinsters A heart-warming documentary that will leave you feeling full of hope and all that good stuff. It tells the story of two strangers, one living in France and the other in the USA, who discover via the internet that they are identical twins.
